Momote Shiki - Ceremonial Japanese Archery Ritual

Momoteshiki is a traditional Ogasawara-ryu archery ceremony featuring a formal sequence of ritual shots performed with classical etiquette. Momoteshiki is a ceremonial archery ritual of the **Ogasawara-ryu**, a tradition that has preserved the classical etiquette and martial arts of the samurai for more than eight centuries. We are deeply honored by the presence of **Kiyotada Ogasawara**, the 31st hereditary headmaster (Sōke) of the Ogasawara school, as well as **Kiyomoto Ogasawara**, who will carry this lineage into the next generation. In this ceremony, archers from Japan and from the Ogasawara school community in the United States perform a formal sequence of ritual shots in accordance with centuries-old tradition and etiquette. Through this sacred and disciplined practice, the archers offer their prayers for peace and prosperity for the people of Hawaiʻi, and for the continued friendship and cultural bonds between Japan and Hawaiʻi. Standing room only (no seating available).
