Maunalua Eat the Invaders Fishing Tournament & Community Event
Mālama Maunalua invites the community to the Maunalua Eat the Invaders Fishing Tournament and Community Event, a multi-day effort combining reef conservation, sustainable seafood, and hands-on education. The tournament targets invasive reef fish—taʻape (common blue stripe snapper), toʻau (blacktail snapper), and roi (peacock grouper)—to support reef health and local food systems. The event culminates in a free, family-friendly community gathering with a fish fry (taʻape tasting plates prepared by Chef Eric Oto with Chef Hui), keiki activities, and conservation education. Tournament: Friday, February 27 – Sunday, March 1, 2026 Fishing opens Friday, February 27 at 7:00 a.m. Weigh-in: Sunday, March 1 at 12:00 p.m. Community Event & Fish Fry: Sunday, March 1, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
